Senior AI Engineers
Location: Madrid, Spain
Work model: On-site – 5 days per week
About the role
We are looking for Senior AI Engineers to design, build and deploy production-grade AI systems within a financial services environment. You will work closely with data scientists, quants, risk teams and engineering to turn advanced ML/AI research into reliable, scalable products that directly impact trading, risk, fraud, and customer experience.
This is a hands-on engineering role with strong ownership and architectural influence.
Key responsibilities
AI/ML Engineering
* Design and deploy end-to-end machine learning and AI systems in production
* Build scalable pipelines for training, evaluation and monitoring of models
* Productionise LLM, NLP and predictive modelling use cases
* Improve model performance, reliability, explainability and latency
You will work on applications such as:
* Fraud detection and AML
* Credit and risk modelling
* Algorithmic trading and forecasting
* Document intelligence & automation (KYC, onboarding)
* Conversational AI and internal copilots
Platform & Infrastructure
* Build MLOps and LLMOps pipelines
* Create reusable AI services and APIs
* Ensure security, governance and compliance of AI systems
* Collaborate with cloud and platform teams to scale workloads
Leadership & Collaboration
* Mentor engineers and data scientists
* Influence architecture and best practices
* Work with stakeholders to translate business problems into AI solutions
* Drive adoption of modern AI engineering standards
Required experience
Technical
* 6+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in ML/AI engineering
* Strong Python engineering skills
* Production experience with:
* Machine learning pipelines
* Model deployment & monitoring
* APIs and microservices
* Experience with LLMs and modern AI tooling
* Solid understanding of data engineering fundamentals
Experience with many of the following:
* PyTorch / TensorFlow
* LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.)
* MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow)
* Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure)
* Docker & Kubernetes
* SQL and distributed data systems
Finance domain (highly valued)
* Experience in banking, fintech, trading or insurance
* Knowledge of risk, fraud, payments or regulatory environments
* Experience building explainable and auditable models
Soft skills
* Strong ownership mindset
* Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Ability to operate in regulated, high-reliability environments
