We are looking for a QC Microbiology Team Leader who is people‑focused, quality‑driven, and results‑oriented to join our Quality Control – Microbiology & Environmental Monitoring team, based at our UCB campus located in Braine‑l’Alleud.
About the role
You are going to lead a pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory covering activities from development to commercial production. You will ensure analytical reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while developing team capabilities. Through your leadership, you will create a safe, high‑performing, and continuously improving laboratory environment that directly supports product quality and patient safety.
Who you will work with
You will work closely with microbiology technicians, QC managers, and cross‑functional stakeholders including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, HSE, and Technical teams. You are going to act as a key interface between laboratory operations and site leadership, while serving as a trusted back‑up to the QC Microbiology Manager.
What you will do
1. You will lead, coach, and develop a team of microbiology technicians.
2. You will be responsible for planning daily laboratory activities and ensuring on‑time analytical execution.
3. You will ensure GMP and pharmacopeial compliance across all microbiology activities.
4. You will manage deviations, OOS, CAPAs, audits, and inspection readiness.
5. You will monitor KPIs, drive corrective actions, and strengthen continuous improvement culture.
6. You will promote a safe working environment aligned with HSE and site objectives.
Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills
7. Master’s degree in microbiology, pharmaceutical sciences, bioengineering, biochemistry, or equivalent.
8. Strong expertise in pharmaceutical microbiology methods and regulatory standards (GMP, pharmacopoeias).
9. At least 5 years of experience in laboratory management within a regulated environment.
10. Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage, coach, and develop teams.
11. Strong problem‑solving mindset and experience leading investigations.
12. Fluent in French and English, comfortable working in a matrix organization.
