ELECTRO MECHANICAL ENGINEER - GHENT (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
The Electromechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting complex systems that combine mechanical, electrical, and electronic components. This role spans the entire product lifecycle, from concept, design, and prototyping to production support, testing, and continuous improvement.
The engineer ensures that electromechanical systems are reliable, efficient, safe, and cost-effective while meeting technical requirements and regulatory standards.
Working cross-functionally with R&D, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, the Electromechanical Engineer translates product requirements into practical designs, validates system performance through testing, and supports production and field operations.
This role requires hands-on problem-solving, technical analysis, and proactive identification of design improvements to enhance system functionality, manufacturability, and long-term reliability.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to deliver innovative solutions that align with business objectives, meet customer expectations, and comply with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop electromechanical systems, assemblies, and components that meet functional and performance requirements
Create, review, and maintain mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
Select appropriate motors, actuators, sensors, controllers, power supplies, and other components
Perform calculations, simulations, and tolerance analyses to ensure optimal performance and reliability
Integrate mechanical, electrical, and control elements into complete operational systems
Develop and execute testing plans for prototypes, pilot runs, and production units
Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to meet design objectives
Support system validation, reliability testing, and compliance with applicable standards
Facilitate the transition of designs from concept to production, ensuring manufacturability and scalability
Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams on component selection, sourcing, and cost optimization
Provide technical support for production issues, nonconformances, and design improvements
Assist in the development of assembly processes, tooling, and fixtures
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and change records
Ensure designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and industry standards (e.g., UL, CE, ISO, EMC)
Support engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) and configuration management activities
