About the Role
Join RELYzIT Talent as a Medior Data / AI Engineer (Freelance) and help our client drive the next wave of data and AI innovation. You'll be embedded in a Data Center of Excellence, shaping the architecture and governance of a cutting-edge Azure-based Data and AI platform. This is a freelance opportunity for 13 months, based in Brussels with a hybrid work model (up to 50% remote).

What You'll Be Doing
* Extend and maintain the Azure Databricks Data Platform to meet evolving business and technical needs
* Lead and technically own the deployment of Azure AI services, including AI Foundry, AI Search, Azure OpenAI Service, and Document Intelligence
* Define and enforce data governance, security, and compliance standards across Azure services
* Design and implement robust data ingestion and ETL pipelines for AI-driven use cases
* Collaborate with cross-functional AI project teams to deliver impactful solutions
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers and stakeholders
* Advise on architecture decisions, AI model selection, and best practices
* Maintain clear, up-to-date technical documentation to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience as a Data / AI Engineer, with a strong track record of ownership and impact
* Minimum 3 years of hands-on Databricks experience at an expert level
* Deep expertise in Azure AI Services and Azure platform/infrastructure management
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
* Advanced skills in designing and optimizing data pipelines and ETL processes
* Builder mindset: proactive, solutions-oriented, and passionate about driving outcomes
* Ability to mentor, collaborate, and communicate complex ideas clearly

Language Proficiency
* Dutch or French: Professional working proficiency required
* English: Full professional proficiency required
