We are primarily a backend platform team, working with APIs (REST, Kafka, GraphQL), relational and time-series databases, and complex integrations across the Atlas Copco ecosystem. User-facing functionality is part of the picture, but the platform and its integrations are where most of our work lives. We actively embrace agentic AI, using it in a productive and constructive way to enhance how we design, build, and evolve our platform. We are looking for a Functional Analyst to join our IoT Platform team - and we are deliberately casting a wide net. Whether you come from a development background and want to own the problem instead of the code, from a testing background and want to define requirements rather than validate them, from an architecture background and want to translate structural decisions into clear functional requirements, or from a functional analyst role in a different domain and want to go deeper on the platform side - we want to hear from you.
As our Functional Analyst, you will be the bridge between business stakeholders (marketing, operations, technical support, services, product companies) and our solution architects and developers. You will ensure that business needs are deeply understood, well-translated, and successfully delivered. Your core mission:
1. Gather and translate business needs into clear, testable user stories and functional specs
2. Define integration requirements with Atlas Copco ecosystem partners - what they expose, what we need, how to close the gap
3. Drive prioritization, validation, and release follow-up alongside the product owner
4. Participate in architecture and refinement sessions with architects, developers, and test engineers
5. Stay ahead of trends in IoT, cloud-native platforms, and data integration patterns
You will be the first point of contact for functional design, integration needs, and the evolution of our domain services and APIs. You won't build them, but you will ensure that what gets built is functional, feasible, and valuable. Independent of your background, you bring something valuable to this role which is exactly what we are looking for.
You will participate in refinement sessions, technical meetings, and cross-functional brainstorming to make sure the platform stays performant, secure, scalable, and future-proof. Learning is not a phase here, it is a constant. Day in, day out, year in, year out.

6. Have a strong affinity with Information Technology and enjoy bridging the gap between business requirements and technical solutions
7. Bring a background in development, testing, architecture, or functional analysis, backed by a collaborative and solution-oriented mindset
8. Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a sharp eye for detail and edge cases
9. Understand concepts like APIs, backend logic, databases, and integration patterns to assess their impact without needing to build them
10. Have proven experience working with stakeholders to capture, challenge, and translate their requirements
11. Demonstrate solid planning, prioritization, and communication skills across both technical and business audiences
12. Understand Scrum, (scaled) agile delivery frameworks, cross-team dynamics, IoT, cloud-native technologies, and domain-driven design

Job location
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Atlas Copco airpower site in Wilrijk, Belgium.
