Senior Construction Manager
A prominent client of ours are seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Manager to operate as an extension of the client team in the delivery of a Greenfield hyperscale data centre project. This role has overall responsibility for the coordination and oversight of multiple construction work packages and plays a critical role in ensuring delivery in line with client expectations for programme, quality, health and safety, and commissioning readiness.
The successful candidate will be primarily site-based and responsible for monitoring, coordinating and reporting on construction activities, ensuring that works are delivered to the highest standards and in full compliance with contractual, statutory and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, supervise and mentor a team of Construction Package Managers.
* Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining clear accountability and performance expectations.
* Promote a collaborative, proactive and delivery-focused team culture built on ownership and transparency.
Construction Delivery & Oversight
* Oversee day-to-day site activities to ensure alignment with approved programmes and key milestones.
* Identify, manage and resolve construction issues in collaboration with contractors and client representatives.
* Monitor progress and ensure timely escalation of risks, delays or constraints that may impact delivery.
Quality & Commissioning Interface
* Work closely with the Quality function to support inspections, audits and the resolution of quality-related issues.
* Collaborate with the Commissioning Lead to ensure construction activities are sequenced and executed in line with commissioning requirements.
* Support effective coordination between construction and commissioning teams to enable smooth handovers and transitions.
Health & Safety
* Act as a visible champion for a safety-first culture across all site activities.
* Monitor and enforce contractor compliance with health and safety legislation, policies and site requirements.
* Participate in site safety walks, reviews and incident investigations as required.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
* Serve as a key point of contact between the client and delivery partners.
* Facilitate clear, consistent and effective communication across all project stakeholders.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, consultants and client representatives.
* Ensure alignment of expectations and proactive issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
Reporting & Communication
* Produce clear, accurate and insightful progress reports, dashboards and presentations tailored to senior stakeholders.
* Communicate complex technical and programme-related matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Provide timely and transparent updates on progress, risks, issues and mitigation strategies.
