Summary
General Ledger and Sub ledger expert, with strong accounting background, knowledge of US GAAP and other guiding principles and processes. Must be able to work independently with little supervision, be able to provide guidance to other accounting staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintains full integrity of all business financials, including compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
* Review, analyze and prepare monthly journal entries for month end close, including expense accruals, amortizations, cost allocations, and any other required entries.
* Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations for various legal entities and provide explanations of any unusual balances.
* Assist with internal and external audits by preparing and explaining fluctuations for significant accounts between periods and preparing audit schedules for designated balance sheet accounts.
* Prepare monthly intercompany invoices and review and analyze intercompany transactions to ensure proper accounting.
* Review and prepare allocations for corporate charges, including corporate insurance, royalties, etc.
* Support the Accounting Manager and the South America SSC Controller in reviewing month-end income statements of domestic operational units to verify accuracy and completeness.
* Communicate and coordinate with Operations and G&A departments on the submission of accounting data needed to complete month-end journal entries for domestic and international locations.
* Provide operational units with explanations of monthly expense variances and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following:
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four‑year college/university.
* Minimum of six (6) years of general ledger accounting experience.
* Experience with Oracle or other integrated accounting software (preferred).
* Strong knowledge of MS Office with advanced Excel skills.
* Public Accountant certification.
Language Skills
Ability to read and speak in English and Spanish, understand detailed instructions, compose routine correspondence with proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
Regular communication by telephone, preparation and manipulation of documents, and movement throughout the office. May be asked to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
Moderate noise level in the work environment.
