We are seeking a results-driven and analytical Business Analyst/ Underwriting Manager to support our Corporate Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance business, with a specific focus on underwriting analysis. This role will be instrumental in driving data-informed decision-making, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the overall performance of our commercial insurance portfolio.
The ideal candidate will bring strong insurance industry experience (especially in P&C underwriting and claims), analytical skills, and a solid understanding of business process improvement and workload monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting Support:
1. Analyze underwriting performance across lines of business, regions, broker channels, and account segments.
2. Partner with underwriting leadership to assess risk appetite, pricing adequacy, and portfolio mix management.
3. Support the development and refinement of underwriting processes to improve consistency, efficiency, and adherence to guidelines.
4. Monitor and evaluate underwriting workloads and resource allocation across teams to optimize productivity.
5. Design and maintain dashboards and tools to provide real-time insights into underwriting activity, capacity, and turnaround times.
6. Track quote-to-bind ratios and submission trends to identify workflow bottlenecks and areas for process enhancement.
Cross-functional Analysis & Insights:
7. Provide actionable business intelligence to underwriting, claims, actuarial, product, and finance teams.
8. Develop, automate, and maintain performance dashboards and management reporting tools for executive and operational stakeholders.
9. Translate complex data into meaningful insights and strategic recommendations for business decision-makers.
Project & Stakeholder Collaboration:
10. Act as a liaison between underwriting operations, IT, and data teams to define business requirements and implement process or system enhancements.
11. Support strategic initiatives, including portfolio steering, operational reviews, system migrations, and regulatory compliance reporting.
12. Lead or support initiatives to improve operational processes, performance measurement, and customer responsiveness.
Qualifications:
13. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related field. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, AINS, CBAP) a plus.
14. 3–7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in the insurance industry, preferably within commercial P&C.
15. Solid understanding of underwriting and claims processes in corporate/commercial insurance.
16. Experience in workload monitoring, operations performance tracking, and underwriting support processes.
17. Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
18. Familiarity with core insurance systems (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek) and workflow management platforms.
19. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
20. Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
