To strengthen our team and support our growth, we are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quality Manager.
Purpose of the Role
As Assistant Quality Manager, you will support the Quality Manager in ensuring that all products meet internal quality standards and comply with food safety regulations (HACCP, BRC, IFS, etc.). You’ll assist in maintaining our quality management systems, lead inspections, conduct audits, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure continuous improvement of food safety and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with BRC, IFS, and customer requirements.
* Conduct internal audits, participate in external audits (e.g. certification bodies, customers), and manage corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
* Ensure that HACCP plans are correctly implemented and updated as needed.
* Assist in the monitoring and documentation of production processes, sanitation, and environmental controls.
* Work closely with production, R&D, and supply chain teams to ensure quality and food safety are integrated into daily operations.
* Manage product traceability, non-conformities, and customer complaints, with follow-up investigations and root cause analyses.
* Contribute to training programs for production staff on hygiene, quality procedures, and food safety.
* Stay updated on regulatory and customer requirements relevant to food safety and labeling.
* Participate in product release approvals and support product shelf-life testing.
Profile & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Bioengineering, Quality Management, or related field.
* 4+ years of experience in a quality assurance or food safety role, preferably in the food or confectionery industry.
* Knowledge of GFSI standards (BRC, IFS), HACCP, GMP, and European food legislation.
* Analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, and hands-on attitude.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across departments.
* Fluent in Dutch and good working knowledge of English. French is a plus.
* Experience with QMS software or ERP systems is a bonus.
