The Purchase, Risk & Contract Adviser safeguards the business by anticipating and managing contractual and commercial risks throughout the full project lifecycle—from tendering and offering preparation to execution and maintenance. The role ensures robust supplier and partner governance (including purchasing - and support contracts negotiations) and contributes to sustainable performance through structured processes.
The role reports to the General Manager.
Job description
* Responsible for all purchasing activities and related negotiations. This covers overall responsibility for project purchases, supervision of investment purchases, and securing the best purchasing conditions for the company. The role negotiates commercial terms and discounts with suppliers and partners and contributes to budget control within projects in coordination with the relevant stakeholders.
* Responsible for business-related risk management. This includes identifying and assessing contractual and commercial risks across the full project lifecycle (tenders, offers, execution, and maintenance) and ensuring they are appropriately addressed in outgoing offers. The role advises project and operational teams on key clauses and mitigation actions, while reinforcing contracting policies aligned with the market and business strategy. The role includes the juridical follow-up of possible escalations with third parties or customers.
* Responsible for supplier/partner contracts, as well as Facility maintenance contracts (acting as liaison with the internal Facility team). The role manages vendor/distributor/partner relationships and ensures end-to-end contract lifecycle management (drafting/review, negotiation, signature, communication, and renewals).
* Responsible for ISO 9001 and for coordinating ISO 9001/ISO 27001/ISO 14001 certifications (certification governance and coordination). The role leads, maintains, and continuously improves the Integrated Management System, with direct responsibility for ISO 9001 (Quality) to ensure compliance, operational effectiveness, and strategic alignment. In close collaboration with process owners, the CISO, and the Environmental Manager, the role acts as the main point of contact for external auditors, including preparation and follow-up of certification audits.
* Identifies, assesses, and coordinates access to relevant grants: this includes proactive screening of grants opportunities-monitoring government decisions; ensuring the internal collection of the required data and evidence to build complete application files and follow of the submission. Within the same scope, the role coordinates the acquisition and renewal of business-supporting certifications/recognitions required (e.g., public works recognition, security clearances, etc.).
Required experience
* Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Business/Economics/Management, Business Law, or Engineering with strong commercial exposure.
* Solid knowledge of commercial contract principles and public procurement/public tenders (Belgium/EU context).
* +5 years of relevant experience in contract management and/or procurement in a project-based environment (public sector exposure is a strong asset).
* Proven experience in (public) tendering and contractual/commercial risk management in a project-based environment.
* Formal training or certification in contract management (drafting/review, negotiation, contract lifecycle management) and strategic purchasing/negotiation
* ISO qualifications: ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor (minimum). ISO 27001 and ISO 14001 Foundation/Internal Auditor certifications are a strong asset; ISO 9001 Lead Auditor is a plus.
* Languages: French and/or Dutch (trilingual is a strong asset).
* Excellent negotiation skills with suppliers/partners and internal stakeholders; assertive and solution oriented.
* Strong analytical and synthesis skills; able to assess contractual/commercial risk and translate it into practical mitigation actions.
* Strong understanding of contract lifecycle management and purchasing methods; comfortable reviewing/drafting key clauses and managing renewals.
