CONTEXT
To support our client in Energy sector and based in Brussels, we are looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager
Service Description:
To achieve carbon neutrality for Belgian society, far-reaching electrification of current energy consumption is an absolute must. However, given the long lead times for realizing projects and the large number of connection requests, available capacity in the short term is becoming scarce.
In this context, the question arises whether the current first-come, first-served framework is suitable to manage this situation.
This situation has already occurred in other countries, such as the UK and the Netherlands, where different approaches have been developed.
The organization wishes, in collaboration with regulators and authorities, to conduct an analysis of the approaches chosen in neighboring countries and determine the most appropriate model for Belgium. For this, they are looking for someone who can shape this strategic program: conducting internal and external interviews, facilitating internal and external workshops, setting up the necessary governance structures (both internally and externally), followed by developing a concrete implementation plan (internal & external).
The key strategic questions to be addressed include:
· Can a socially relevant prioritization of grid users be developed for Belgium (what about Flanders / Wallonia / Brussels)?
· What is the appropriate governance model: should we aim for a centralized model (identical priorities for the whole country), a decentralized model (different choices per region), or something in between (e.g., alignment at a certain level but room for local preferences)?
After developing an internal vision in the first phase, alignment with external stakeholders will be required. The vision must then be translated into a practical proposal, including:
· Designing processes
· Defining roles and responsibilities
· Reviewing the connection process
Additional Requirements:
· Proficiency in Dutch, French, and English (spoken and written)
· Strong organizational skills to keep the project under control and maintain focus on the vision despite urgent matters
· Demonstrated leadership to manage various internal and external stakeholders and arrive at pragmatic solutions and proposals—both short-term and long-term strategic perspectives
· Knowledge of the context and the Belgian energy sector
· Ability to work autonomously
· Someone who gains “energy” from navigating complex dossiers with many stakeholders
