Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Network Engineer to join a large industrial manufacturing site in the Antwerp region on a 6-month maternity cover assignment.
The role is primarily focused on network infrastructure, with additional exposure to telecom and security-related systems. You will be responsible for supporting and coordinating network operations across the site, ensuring the reliability of critical infrastructure that supports daily production activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with the existing Network Engineer during a one-month handover period before taking ownership of the environment during the maternity leave cover.
This is an on-site position with 1-2 days working from home possible.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure
* Support and coordinate the site's network infrastructure.
* Manage and monitor network switching environments.
* Work with fibre optic infrastructure and cabling networks.
* Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers regarding network-related activities.
* Assist with network troubleshooting and incident resolution.
* Work alongside firewall specialists and vendors, with a general understanding of firewall environments (configuration experience is not required).
Telecom & Security Systems
* Support and coordinate telecommunications infrastructure.
* Oversee IP and analogue telephony systems.
* Coordinate radio communication systems where required.
* Manage site-wide CCTV and camera infrastructure from an operational perspective (configuration experience is not required).
* Support physical access control and security-related systems.
Required Experience
* Proven experience as a Network Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role.
* Strong understanding of network switching technologies.
* Experience working with fibre optic infrastructure is a bonus.
* General knowledge of firewall technologies and network security concepts.
* Exposure to telecom environments including telephony and communication systems is a bonus.
* Comfortable working in a hands-on industrial environment.
