EDFI MC operates on behalf of 15 European Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) to offer financial services to sustainable development projects by the private sector in emerging and developing economies.
EDFI MC's product portfolio includes investment solutions, co-financing vehicles, and risk-sharing instruments. All these financing instruments are designed to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.
Concomitantly, EDFI MC works in close operational cooperation with relevant DFIs and the EU throughout the investment process.

Your mission:
As a Portfolio Officer, you will manage a portfolio of investments in early-stage companies developing innovative solutions to address poverty and climate challenges in developing countries, mainly under the AgriFi and ElectriFi impact funds.
You will act as the primary counterpart for investee companies and collaborate closely with colleagues across ESG, Legal, Risk and Finance teams.
Key responsibilities:
* Ensure compliance with investment documentation; prepare disbursements; monitor reporting, covenants, and repayment schedules; update KYC; and assess waiver or amendment requests.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of value-creation plans; monitor investment performance; prepare timely exits for (quasi-)equity investments; and support restructuring processes when required.
* Propose Fair Market Valuations for (quasi-)equity investments and assess Expected Credit Losses for loan investments, including regular updates of risk ratings.
* Prepare and present portfolio-related information to the relevant investment committees.
* Work closely with ESG, Legal, Risk and Finance teams throughout the investment lifecycle.
* Lead or support restructuring negotiations with various stakeholders (clients, co-lenders, advisors, internal committees).
* Represent EDFI MC towards investee companies, DFIs, impact investors, the European Commission and EU Delegations. Build and maintain strong professional relationships and promote EDFI MC’s activities.
Required skills and experience:
The ideal candidate for the offered position offers the following qualifications:
* 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in investment management, financial institutions or audit/consulting.
* A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Solid analytical skills and understanding of P&L and balance-sheet dynamics, including IFRS-based valuation.
* Good understanding of debt and equity instruments, covenants and investment documentation.
* A first experience in project finance, renewable energy, restructuring or special asset management is an asset.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills with clients and stakeholders.
* Ease with numbers, budgeting, reporting and database management.
* Ability to draft and defend high-quality investment memos and proposals.
* Fluency in English (written and spoken). French, Dutch and/or Spanish are strong assets.
* A team-player mindset in an international environment, combined with the ability to work independently.
* A valid work permit for Belgium and willingness to travel occasionally.
* Experience in developing countries, impact investment, agriculture or energy sectors is a clear asset.
* A positive energy and the ability to contribute to a friendly team spirit, even during intense periods.
