🎯 Mission
As a Mechanical 3D Designer, you will work on complex water infrastructure projects that involve heavy machinery. You will support engineers by translating their technical input into accurate 3D models and complete 2D and 3D drawings used directly for construction. The role focuses on mechanical components for movable bridges, locks, weirs, pumping stations, hoisting equipment, and related heavy machinery. You will integrate your models into multi-discipline project environments and collaborate with civil and steel design teams. This position is suitable for candidates who combine strong 3D modelling and drafting skills with practical insight into maintenance and installation requirements.
đź“‹ Your responsibilities
* Model and draft mechanical components in Inventor or SolidWorks based on precise technical input provided by engineers working on heavy machinery projects.
* Integrate your mechanical 3D models into the overall 3D project model and coordinate with other disciplines such as civil and steel design teams.
* Perform interface checks and clash detection across multiple disciplines to identify, document, and help resolve conflicts between mechanical and structural elements.
* Develop practical mechanical design solutions for heavy machinery that consider maintenance, accessibility, and installation requirements throughout the asset lifecycle.
* Produce approved 2D and 3D drawings upon finalization of designs, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and ready for construction and fabrication use.
👤 What skills do you bring to the table?
* Bachelor’s degree in Design & Production Technology or (Electro)mechanical Engineering, or equivalent by experience gained in comparable mechanical design environments.
* Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design of heavy machinery, including components such as bearings, shafts, gears, cranks, hinges, wheels, winches, cables, chains, hydraulic cylinders, and motors.
* Strong 3D modelling and drafting skills in Inventor or SolidWorks, including GD&T knowledge and experience setting up part/assembly/BOM/drawing templates for standardized project delivery.
* Experience with VBA automation as a plus, combined with solid proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and integration with 3D project documentation.
* English is required, Dutch or French is a plus.
* Valid BA4 and VCA certificates and a demonstrated willingness to travel to site when required for project coordination or verification.
