Location: Brussels Region Duration: 6 months (Freelance contract, potential extension) Sector: Industrial Automation / E-commerce Logistics / Material Handling Systems Overview We are currently seeking a Freelance Electro-Mechanical Technician to support a new large-scale automated distribution center project in the Brussels region. The project involves the installation, alignment, and commissioning of a fully automated conveyor and parcel sorting system for a high-throughput e-commerce fulfilment and distribution hub. The facility is designed to handle high-volume order processing with fully integrated automated handling, scanning, and sorting technologies. This is a hands-on role combining mechanical installation and electrical field support within a fast-paced commissioning environment. Your Role Install, assemble, and mechanically align conveyor systems, diverters, and sorting modules Support installation of automated material handling equipment in a distribution center environment Assist with installation and connection of motors, sensors, actuators, and field devices Perform mechanical fitting, adjustments, and system alignment across conveyor lines Support electrical termination checks, cable routing verification, and basic troubleshooting Conduct functional testing of conveyor systems and automated handling equipment Assist in integration of electro-mechanical systems with PLC-controlled automation Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during installation and commissioning phases Work closely with automation engineers, OEM technicians, and site supervisors Ensure all installation work complies with technical drawings, safety standards, and quality requirements Participate in system commissioning and operational ramp-up activities Project Environment The project is a new-build automated e-commerce distribution center designed for high-speed order fulfilment and parcel processing. The system includes multiple conveyor networks, automated sorting machines, scanning stations, and robotic handling interfaces. You will be working in a dynamic installation environment with multiple technical teams operating simultaneously, requiring strong coordination, precision, and adherence to safety protocols. xjsrcvq Your Profile 5+ years of experience as an electro-mechanical technician or industrial installer Strong background in mechanical installation and industrial automation equipment Experience with conveyor systems, warehouse automation, or material handling systems Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and basic electrical schematics Hands-on experience with alignment, fitting, and installation of industrial machinery Basic understanding of industrial electrical systems (motors, sensors, control wiring) Experience in installation and commissioning environments Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Fluent in English (French is an advantage) Available for on-site work in the Brussels region Eligible to work as a freelance contractor Bonus Skills Experience in e-commerce logistics or warehouse automation projects Familiarity with PLC-controlled conveyor or sorting systems Experience working with OEM installation or commissioning teams Knowledge of industrial safety systems in automated environments Exposure to high-volume 24/7 distribution operations What's on Offer Freelance assignment (6 months, with extension potential) Work on a state-of-the-art automated distribution center in Brussels Hands-on technical role combining mechanical and electrical disciplines Collaboration with international automation and engineering teams Immediate start available for the right candidate Immediate start available for the right candidate!
