You will join a cloud-native platform team operating at the intersection of infrastructure, DevOps, and AI enablement.
The environment supports data scientists and analysts across the full lifecycle of data processing, model training, deployment, and monitoring, including Generative AI use cases.
You will work on a shared, scalable AWS-based platform that must meet high standards for reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency. This role suits senior engineers who enjoy building and operating robust cloud platforms, enabling others to work effectively with data and AI rather than building end-user products themselves.
Your responsibilities include
* Designing and building cloud-native platform services on AWS.
* Managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code principles with Terraform.
* Configuring and operating AWS services such as Lambda, S3, Kinesis, and networking components.
* Supporting containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
* Building and automating data and model pipelines using Python, Apache Airflow, and Apache Spark.
* Enabling model training, storage, serving, and monitoring at scale.
* Exposing AI models via APIs for batch and low-latency use cases.
* Supporting Generative AI initiatives and experimentation.
* Ensuring platform reliability, performance, scalability, and cost control.
* Handling complex incidents, root cause analysis, and operational improvements.
What are we looking for?
* You hold a Master’s degree in ICT, Engineering Sciences, or Business Engineering with a focus on Informatics or have equivalent experience.
* You have at least 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering.
* You have strong hands‑on experience with AWS in production environments.
* You are proficient with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
* You have experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
* You are proficient in Python.
* You have experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
* You have hands‑on experience with Apache Airflow.
* You have experience with Apache Spark or similar data processing frameworks.
* You are familiar with API gateways and exposing services via APIs.
* You are comfortable operating and supporting production systems, including incident resolution.
* You are fluent in English.
* You are willing to participate in on-call duties when required.
Nice-to-Have
* Experience with ML lifecycle tooling such as MLflow.
* Experience with AWS SageMaker.
* Familiarity with Generative AI and LLM-based platforms.
* Experience with big data or analytics platforms.
* Working knowledge of Dutch.
