About the Role
We're hiring a Python backend engineer to join a small, fast-moving engineering team (4–5 people). You'll take features end-to-end — from design to deployment — and shape the product alongside our product manager and the rest of engineering.
Stack: Python + FastAPI on the backend, Next.js + TypeScript on the frontend, GCP for infrastructure.
Sweet spot is ~3–6 years of backend experience, but hands-on senior engineers are very welcome. If you've been building backend systems for longer and you still love the work, you belong here too.
What You'll Work On
* Core services & APIs (FastAPI). Designing and evolving the backbone that everything else runs on.
* Reliable, secure backend systems with strong tenant isolation. Security and isolation are central to what we build — we operate on sensitive enterprise data and we treat it that way.
* Scenario simulation & optimization engines. Shipping research into production: turning models and methods into systems that drive real procurement decisions.
You'll also help shape technical direction in a team where your input genuinely matters, collaborate closely with product on what to build (not just how), and keep the codebase healthy through testing, reviews, and clear documentation.
Requirements
* 3–6 years of software engineering experience, or more if you still enjoy being hands-on.
* Strong Python backend experience; FastAPI is a real plus.
* Solid grasp of secure backend design — authentication, authorization, tenant isolation, secrets handling, sensible defaults.
* Backend-first, but knowing the rest of the stack and being able to ship features end-to-end is a real plus
* Software fundamentals you take seriously: version control, testing, CI/CD.
* Product mindset — you think about users and business outcomes, not just specs.
* Independent, high-ownership, thrives in a small team with real autonomy.
* Strong communicator, team-first attitude.
Nice to Haves
* Experience shipping data-heavy or computationally intensive systems (simulation, optimization, analytics pipelines).
* GCP experience.
* Exposure to procurement, finance, supply chain, or other complex enterprise domains.
* Comfort working alongside ML/AI components and making them production-grade
