This role provides regional strategic leadership across air freight operations, product development, carrier management, and service performance. As the organization’s air freight subject‑matter expert, the Director ensures that UPS SCS delivers competitive, high‑quality, margin‑positive Air Freight products. The role partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Network Planning, and Operations to align product capabilities with customer needs and market expectations. The Director champions UPS’s culture of Integrity, Service, Safety, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork while delivering global product excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesAir Freight Product LeadershipOwns the end‑to‑end International Air Freight product portfolio, ensuring competitiveness, scalability, and profitability.Defines product strategy, product features, service levels, and performance requirements for global execution.Monitors market trends, industry developments, customer expectations, and competitive offerings to guide product positioning.Leads Regional product improvement initiatives, including transit time enhancements, network optimization, and service reliability upgrades. Collaborates closely with the Global International Air Freight Function.Carrier Management & Capacity StrategyOversees international air carrier relationships, including selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing performance management.Establishes carrier performance KPIs, service compliance expectations, and quality standards.Collaborates with Network Planning to optimize own air capacity utilization.Leads initiatives to secure strategic capacity, including peak management, disruptions, and market shifts.Operational Integration & Service PerformanceEnsures alignment between product strategy and operational execution across countries, gateways, and global service centers.Reviews operational data to assess transit times, performance reliability, and service quality for Air Freight products.Collaborates with operations leadership to resolve performance gaps and implement service level improvements.Ensures compliance with international aviation regulations, safety standards, and UPS operational protocols.Trade Lane Management, Commercial Partnership & Customer AlignmentDefine and lead trade lane management initiatives.Works closely with Sales and Marketing to translate customer needs into product capabilities and value propositions.Participates in major customer engagements to provide operational expertise and product insights.Develops initiatives and enablement tools to build Sales capabilities around Air Freight offerings.Supports strategic account growth by customizing solutions within global product standards.Leadership & People DevelopmentLeads an international team of managers and specialists responsible for product, trade lane management, and carrier management.Creates a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.Promotes UPS values across teams and strengthens internal alignment with corporate strategy.About UPSFounded in 1907 as a messenger company in the United States, UPS has grown into a multi-billion-dollar corporation by clearly focusing on the goal of enabling commerce around the globe.
