Context
To support the successful delivery of a major infrastructure project in the Antwerp region, we are looking for an experienced Buyer / Procurement Specialist.
In this role, you will support and coordinate procurement activities during both the tender phase and execution phase, working closely with multidisciplinary project teams.
Main Responsibilities
As Buyer, you are responsible for ensuring an efficient, timely and cost-effective procurement process, with attention to planning, technical requirements, risk management and QHSES standards.
Your key responsibilities include:
* Independently managing procurement activities within an assigned project scope or sub-area
* Supporting and, where applicable, coordinating a small procurement team
* Managing the full procurement lifecycle, from strategy definition and RFQs to final contract award
* Advising project teams on procurement-related topics and market insights
* Working closely with multidisciplinary stakeholders (engineering, planning, finance, legal, execution teams)
* Informing tender and execution teams about market opportunities, constraints and risks
* Conducting meetings with potential subcontractors and suppliers
* Preparing requests for quotation based on technical and commercial input
* Comparing and analysing bids from both a financial and technical perspective
* Organising clarification meetings and leading commercial negotiations
Your Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering or equivalent through relevant experience
* Proven experience in a procurement or purchasing role, preferably within civil or infrastructure construction
* Strong understanding of technical, financial and contractual aspects of construction procurement
* Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within project teams
* Structured, analytical and commercially minded
* Fluent in Dutch (spoken and written)
