For a leading international organization operating in the medical technology sector, we are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to support and further develop automation systems within a highly automated European distribution hub located in Courcelles, Belgium. Your responsibilities
- Supporting automation projects from design phase through go-live and operational stabilization
- Maintaining and improving Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and resolving technical escalations
- Executing maintenance, upgrade, and deployment activities on automated warehouse equipment
- Collaborating with engineering, IT teams, and external integrators to ensure system performance and reliability
- Introducing and integrating advanced technologies such as: Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR/AGV) Machine vision and inspection systems AI / Machine Learning-driven automation IoT and cyber-physical systems Ensuring compliance with cybersecurity, safety, and data integrity standards Monitoring and optimizing automated logistics processes to improve operational efficiency Your profile
- Minimum 4 years of experience in automation engineering, robotics, or industrial automation
- Experience with PLC / HMI / SCADA systems and warehouse automation environments
- Knowledge of Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) is a strong advantage
- Interest or experience with Industry 4.0 technologies (AI, IoT, robotics, vision systems)
- Programming experience (Python, Java, C++ or similar) is a plus
- Experience with automation validation, testing, and system documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Automation, IT, or related field
- Experience in highly automated manufacturing or distribution environments
- Knowledge of industrial robotics, Rockwell PLC, or vision systems
- Six Sigma Green Belt or similar certification is a plus
