As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of the company's financial operations. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and working within a team of 25 finance professionals, you will operate in a dynamic, complex, and challenging environment.
Your main responsibilities include:
* Managing and supervising general ledger accounting in line with Belgian GAAP
* Leading monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
* Preparing accurate financial statements and performing balance sheet reconciliations
* Drafting statutory accounts and annual reports
* Supporting group reporting activities
Tax & Compliance
* Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, Intrastat declarations, and other Belgian tax filings
* Supporting corporate income tax calculations and compliance
* Acting as a key contact for auditors, tax advisors, and authorities
* Ensuring full compliance with Belgian legal and accounting requirements
Operations & Projects
* Overseeing accounts payable, receivable, and fixed assets
* Improving accounting processes and strengthening internal controls
* Contributing to ERP and system optimization projects
* Participating in cross-functional and international initiatives
Your Profile:
You are a highly skilled accounting professional who thrives in a challenging and fast-paced environment and brings strong technical expertise.
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
* At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience in Belgium
* Very strong technical accounting skills, with deep knowledge of Belgian GAAP and VAT
* Good understanding of Belgian corporate taxation
* Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Odoo, etc.)
* Advanced Excel skills
* Fluent in French and Dutch
* Professional proficiency in English
* Accurate, structured, and detail-oriented
* Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
* Able to communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
