SCADA SCIL REALTIME ARCHITECTURE AGILE
On behalf of our client in the energy sector, we are seeking a Senior SCADA Software Engineer for a long-term assignment.
You will contribute to the energy transition by developing and maintaining real-time SCADA solutions that ensure grid stability and power perimeter balancing across several European countries. You will work on business-critical systems operating 24/7 that monitor production assets and integrate flexibility resources.
Tasks:
As a Senior SCADA Software Engineer, you will contribute with the team to all activities:
* Develop and maintain the client’s SCADA application based on real-time SCADA system to integrate flexibility assets, and to comply with European grid codes to support the energy transition.
* Perform both back-end development in the proprietary language SCIL (Supervisory Control Implementation Language) and front-end development using web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript / TypeScript).
* Apply architectural design principles and software craftsmanship best practices (SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI) to build scalable, robust and maintainable solutions.
* Collaborate with functional analysts, dispatchers and technical teams in an Agile/SAFe® environment.
* Participate in the design and documentation of technical solutions.
* Provide level 2 support, incident resolution, root cause analysis and contribute to on-call support (after onboarding) to guarantee 24/7 system availability.
* Ensure compliance with cybersecurity principles in industrial control systems (ICS/OT) and NIS 2 regulations.
Profile:
* You hold a Master’s degree with a specialization in IT and/or electrical engineering with at least 8 years of experience in software engineering preferably in industrial or real-time systems.
* Strong expertise in software architecture and design, delivering scalable, maintainable solutions.
* Ownership mindset in critical environments, including incident management and decision-making.
* Industrial approach focused on stability, risk awareness, and controlled production changes.
* Ability to deliver safe deployments with rollback strategies, while collaborating effectively across IT and business stakeholders.
* Fluent in English with a good command of French or Dutch.
