Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)
We're working with a leading manufacturing organisation based in West Flanders, who are looking to appoint a Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric) to help build and scale its modern data platform. They are seeking a technically strong professional who will play a key role in establishing the company’s data and AI foundations while enabling reliable data-driven decision making across the business.
You will be responsible for maintaining data pipelines and Lakehouse architectures within Microsoft Fabric. Working closely with both ICT teams and business stakeholders, you will ensure that the organisation can consistently rely on accurate, up-to-date data for reporting, analytics, and operational insights.
A strong focus will be placed on data governance, monitoring, and lineage, ensuring that the platform remains robust, transparent, and future-proof.
Key Impact
In this role, you will:
* Unlock and integrate data from core systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Dataverse, migrating it into Microsoft Fabric.
* Transform raw data into reusable and robust data models to support reporting and analytics through Microsoft Power BI and Excel.
* Enable internal applications to access and consume data directly from the organisation’s Fabric data lake environment.
* Support teams in delivering insights faster by implementing a standardised ETL/ELT framework with logging, monitoring, and clear data lineage.
Responsibilities
* Design, build, and monitor data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, including Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Notebooks/Spark.
* Develop and manage Lakehouse architectures within OneLake, using Delta and Parquet formats.
* Model data for analytics, creating high-performance semantic models for reporting in Power BI and Excel.
* Implement data governance frameworks, including access rights, data quality checks, and lineage tracking.
* Establish CI/CD processes for data assets to support reliable development and deployment.
* Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to translate functional requirements into clear technical specifications and solutions.
Your Profile
Experience
* Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
Technical Skills
* Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric, including:
* OneLake
* Lakehouse architectures
* Pipelines
* Dataflows Gen2
* Notebooks / Spark
* Experience with Microsoft Power BI.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Azure Integration Services is considered a strong advantage.
Languages & Collaboration
* Comfortable working in Dutch, French, and/or English.
* Able to communicate effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
