Position: Communications Manager
The European Steel Association (EUROFER) is looking for a Communications Manager to lead the Association's external outreach efforts and strengthen its public profile at a crucial moment for the sector, which is facing multiple challenges ranging from decarbonisation to intensifying trade pressures.
* Preferred start date: Immediate (ideally January 2026, or as soon as possible)
* Experience level: 5-8 years
* Reporting to: EUROFER Director General
Main responsibilities
* Development and implementation of the EUROFER communications strategy, narrative and message house through multichannel campaigns.
* Media relations management, engaging with EU, international and national press; media monitoring.
* Drafting, editing and proofreading of press releases, articles, talking points, social media posts and other communications materials (video scripts, fact sheets, etc).
* Oversight of EUROFER's digital presence, including website and social media channels, planning and appropriate messaging across different platforms.
* Supervision, coordination and editing of EUROFER publications for dissemination.
* Organisation of EUROFER events.
* Definition of workflows and coordination with the EUROFER Communications Officer, relevant internal departments and external consultants, reporting regularly to the Director General.
* Internal communication management, informing members about communications activities and coordinating the EUROFER Communications Committee.
Qualifications and experience
* Bachelor's degree or higher in communications, journalism, marketing, political science, international relations or a related field.
* 5-8 years of experience in a similar communications role.
* Experience in a trade association and/or knowledge of industrial affairs (not necessarily steel) is an asset.
* Understanding of EU affairs and the functioning of EU institutions as well as of the media landscape in Brussels and beyond.
* Ability to juggle multiple workstreams and topics, excellent organisational skills, flexibility, and capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
* Creativity and own-initiative driven, with attention to detail;
* Leadership and coordination skills with colleagues, members and external providers.
* Native-level English is essential; good knowledge of other major EU languages is an advantage.
* Excellent drafting, editing and proofreading skills; ability to produce high-quality copy is essential.
* Social media expertise is a must-have.
* Experience in organising events.
* Digital and tech-savvy skills.
