A leading international engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor to support the delivery of a large-scale Data Centre construction project in Belgium .
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing project team delivering mission-critical infrastructure in one of Europe's fastest-growing sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance are maintained throughout the construction lifecycle.
Working closely with project management teams, contractors, and client representatives, the EHS Advisor will help promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support safe project delivery in a complex construction environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior EHS AdvisorSupport the implementation and management of the project Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) management system in line with company policies, client requirements, and local Belgian safety regulations.Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and project safety standards.Review and monitor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure safe systems of work are implemented across all construction activities.Promote a strong safety culture on site through safety briefings, toolbox talks, and engagement with site personnel and subcontractors.Monitor high-risk activities including: lifting operations, working at height, confined space entry, heavy plant operations, mechanical and electrical installations.Support the management of permit-to-work systems and ensure compliance with project safety procedures.Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety observations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.Maintain accurate EHS records, reports, and documentation, including safety statistics, incident reports, and compliance records.Participate in client safety meetings, project reviews, and safety performance reporting .Ensure compliance with environmental management procedures, including waste management, environmental protection measures, and sustainability initiatives.
Necessary Requirements of the Senior EHS AdvisorDegree or diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related discipline .Relevant safety qualifications such as: NEBOSH General Certificate / NEBOSH Construction Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent recognised safety qualification.3–7+ years' experience working in an EHS / HSE role within construction, engineering, or industrial environments.Experience working on large-scale construction projects, ideally within: Data Centres, Pharmaceutical projects, Industrial or infrastructure projects, Mission-critical facilities.Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations, risk management, and safety management systems .Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safe behaviours on site.Ability to work within a fast-paced, multinational project environment .EU passport or unrestricted right to work within the European Union.
