Virya Energy, founded in 2019 through the strategic partnership of Colruyt Group and its majority shareholder Korys, is a Belgian pioneer in sustainable energy solutions. Our activities span the complete energy value chain, from renewable energy development in Europe and Asia to energy distribution through DATS 24. Our portfolio encompasses our consolidated wind activities (formerly Eoly in Belgium and Eurowatt in France), solar energy projects, sustainable hydrogen development, and strategic investments in specialized energy industry services providers like GeoXYZ, DotOcean, and Marlinks.
Building on over two decades of wind energy expertise and pioneering work in sustainable hydrogen, we continue to expand our capabilities. At our headquarters, a growing team of professionals drives our development across all renewable energy sectors, delivering tailored energy solutions that accelerate the energy transition.
We are hiring a versatile IT Security Officer to act as the technical anchor of our security organization. As Virya Energy continues to grow and navigates the requirements of being an NIS2 Essential entity, we need a hands‑on expert who can bridge the gap between strategy and technical execution.
Your role:
* The Primary technical advisor to the CISO, keeping our IT, OT and business teams secure, resilient and compliant.
* You will own the technical security domain and you will manage and oversee day‑to‑day security operations and our external SOC partner.
* You will lend your expertise to architectural decisions and cross‑functional projects.
Key Responsibilities:
NIS2 Compliance & Governance
* Lead the technical implementation of NIS2 requirements.
* Translate abstract regulatory requirements (NIS2, ISO 27001) into concrete technical controls and procedures.
* Assist the CISO in maintaining the security policy framework and ensure policies are technically enforceable within our infrastructure.
Security Operations & SOC Management
* Act as a Point‑of‑Contact for our external SOC MSSP.
* Review SOC reports, validate alerts and coordinate remediation of detected vulnerabilities.
* Coordinate the internal response to security incidents, ensuring seamless communication between the SOC and internal IT teams.
* Drive the adoption of security controls across the organization.
Security Architecture & Project Support
* Apply “Security by Design” principles to new IT projects, ensuring security is embedded in the development lifecycle and infrastructure services.
* Review low‑level technical designs and provide architectural advice on common cyber capabilities.
* Act as a liaison between the CISO office and the Business Line ICT departments to ensure security tools are deployed effectively without hindering business performance.
IT/OT Convergence
* Serve as the bridge between IT security and OT domains.
* Use your understanding of OT environments to ensure IT security measures do not disrupt energy production or grid operations.
* Collaborate with engineers to maintain “Purdue Model” separation and secure remote access points.
* Support alignment with OT security standards (IEC 62443).
* 5+ years of experience in Information Security.
* Fluent in English. Dutch/French is highly desirable for effective communication with the business teams.
* Solid working knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and the practical implications of NIS2.
* Strong understanding of technical architecture:
o Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance stack
o Cloud Security
o Network Security
o Endpoint Protection and hardening
* Nice to have: Familiarity with OT standards and/or experience in the Energy or Utilities sector.
* You excel at explaining complex technical risks to non‑technical stakeholders and leadership. You are comfortable acting as the “technical voice” of the CISO office.
* Vendor Manager: You have experience managing external partners and holding them accountable to SLAs and deliverables.
* Pragmatic: You balance “perfect security” with business agility. You look for workable solutions, not just problems.
Offer:
* Join a fast‑growing developer that’s shaping the energy transition in Belgium and beyond.
* A full‑time job and an open‑ended contract (no consulting).
* Benefits such as a green company car, meal vouchers, group insurance and health care insurance for you and your family members.
* Flexible workplace: homeworking up to 2‑3 days per week.
Our offices are currently located in Braine-l'Alleud. As of 2026, the workplace will be in Halle.
