Process engineer
Location: Geel, Antwerp, Belgium
Reports to: Head of Operations & Manufacturing
Contract: Full-time, permanent
About CERcuits
CERcuits is an established, innovative provider of ceramic electronic circuits (PCB) and advanced packaging solutions. Our products are used by a broad range of customers in photonics, microelectronics, power, and other high-tech sectors, who value our quality, speed, and service.
We are now entering a new phase of growth, focusing on expanding our production capacity and further professionalizing our operations. We aim to continue supporting our existing customers while preparing for higher-volume production and new markets.
Function
As our Process Engineer, you are responsible for the technical stability and improvement of our production.
Our production floor is not standard. It is a mix of very different technologies: laser machining, screen printing, thermal processing (sintering), chemical plating, and cleaning.
We do not expect you to be an expert in all these fields immediately. We do expect you to be the person who figures it out. You will work closely with our operators, R&D, and external suppliers to ensure our machines run smoothly and our processes are ready for higher volumes
Main Responsibilities
Process Stability & Improvements
You monitor the daily performance of our production processes. When things go wrong (yield loss, downtime), you investigate the root cause and implement a permanent fix.
You take ownership of a wide range of equipment (lasers, printers, chemical baths).
You translate new products from R&D into standard working instructions for the operators.
Industrialization & Automation
You help us scale up. You look for ways to reduce manual work through automation or better tooling.
You lead the implementation of new technologies, specifically automated inspection (AOI) and AI-based detection systems, to guarantee quality at higher speeds.
You ensure that our machines are correctly connected to our IT systems for data collection.
External Collaboration
You realize you cannot know everything. You actively consult with machine suppliers, research centers, and chemical vendors to get the right support.
You translate this external knowledge into practical solutions for our shop floor in Geel.
Profile
Education: You hold a Master's degree in Engineering (Industrieel Ingenieur / Civil Engineer), preferably in Electromechanics, Electronics, Chemistry, or Materials Science.
Experience: You have at least 5 years of experience in a production environment. You understand how a factory floor works, not just in theory, but in practice.
Technical Generalist: You are a true all-rounder. You are not afraid to dive into chemistry one day and precision mechanics or laser settings the next. You are curious and quick to learn.
Solution-Oriented: When a machine stops or a defect appears, you don't just write a report; you go to the machine, investigate, and work with the team to fix it.
IT & Data Savvy: You are comfortable working with data. You understand that modern manufacturing requires connecting machines to IT systems (ERP/MES) and are willing to learn about vision systems and AI.
Technical design: You know how to make technical drawings in Fusion 360.
Languages: Fluent in Dutch and English. You need Dutch to work effectively with the local team, and English to communicate with our international suppliers.
Location: You live within a reasonable commuting distance of Geel.
We do not accept candidates that need to relocate for this position
What we offer
Variety: You won't be bored. One day you are working on a laser, the next on a vision system or a chemical process.
Impact: We are a small but growing team (approx. 10 people), so your work has immediate visibility and impact on the company's success.
Innovation: You get to work with "Factory of the Future" technologies like AI and advanced automation.
Autonomy: We trust our engineers. You get the freedom to organize your work and manage your projects.
Competitive Package: A salary and benefits package in line with your experience including a company car.
