This role centres on leading scientifically complex analytical projects focused on protein biopharmaceuticals across multiple development stages.
You will design studies with clients and internal stakeholders, oversee experimental planning and execution, interpret and report findings, develop advanced separation methodologies and coach team members to deliver work at a high scientific standard.
The position also requires strong client interaction, strategic alignment with internal teams and clear leadership in a quality driven environment.
Key responsibilities
* Project leadership: Lead complex analytical projects for protein biopharmaceuticals from study design through final reporting.
* Experimental design: Plan experiments with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure robust scientific execution.
* Method development: Develop and apply innovative separation methods for in-depth protein characterisation.
* Data interpretation: Process data, capture conclusions in reports and communicate findings clearly to clients.
* Team coaching: Train and support team members in protein separation techniques and high quality reporting.
* Client partnership: Discuss project needs, negotiate scope and provide regular progress updates and next steps.
* Strategic alignment: Coordinate with management and commercial colleagues on scientific and business priorities.
* Quality oversight: Ensure experiments, documentation and project delivery meet expected quality standards.
Required competences & skills
* PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy or equivalent experience.
* At least 8 years of relevant experience in protein biopharmaceutical analytics.
* Deep understanding of analytical testing and protein separation methodologies.
* Strong experience with complex protein formats such as monoclonal antibodies, bispecifics, antibody drug conjugates, fragments, fusion proteins or enzymes.
* Demonstrated ability to coach and lead a team of scientific experts.
* Strong client facing communication, writing, reporting and review skills.
* Ability to manage complex scientific questions independently while working collaboratively.
* Fluent English in both written and spoken communication.
Nice to have
* Experience with commercial awareness, regulatory insight and strategic scientific decision-making in a biopharma setting would be valuable.
