Experienced Autonomous Stack Engineer


Description :


SolarCleano is a Luxembourg-based green-tech robotics company aiming at providing innovative robotic solutions to the solar panel cleaning industry. You will be part of a young and dynamic R&D team operating on a complete autonomous stack. As an experienced autonomous stack engineer, you will collaborate with your team to design, develop, test, deploy, and optimize algorithms that enable our robots to autonomously navigate and clean photovoltaic panels.


Role Overview :


As one of the robotics engineer of the team, you will have an overview of the whole system, from low-level controllers to high-level planification algorithms. You will contribute to technical discussions, and help to take informed decisions about the solutions we want to develop with our robots. Then, you will be actively developing those solutions, test them, and finally assist in their deployment at customer’s sites.

This role combines strategic insight, hands-on technical expertise, some sense of autonomy when it comes to code development, and a commitment to pro-actively foster collaboration between the members of the cross-disciplinary teams within the company.


Key Responsibilities :


* Contribute to a team of cross-disciplinary robotics engineers in a collaborative, product-oriented culture where you own up to your responsibilities.
* Develop and debug a wide range of ROS nodes in Python and C++ and integrate state-of-the-art algorithms into our codebase. Including but not limited to communication bridges, numerical controllers & filters, localization tools, AI interfaces, mission planners...
* Discuss technical strategies to optimize alignment with project and company objectives.
* Write technical reports, code documentation and communication protocols to share internally or with external partners.
* Provide hands-on support during critical development, testing, and deployment
* phases to ensure the success and reliability of the autonomous stack, including
* tests and deployments in real outdoor environments such as operational solar
* installations.
* Follow the tasks assigned to you for each sprint, be pro-active and autonomous but don’t hesitate to cooperate with others if you’re stuck.
* Up to 25% travel required to support deployments, testing, and collaboration
* with external partners.


Requirements :


* Master's or Ph.D. in Robotics Engineering or a related field.
* Minimum 3 years of industrial experience in programming embedded systems.
* Fluency in English and ability to work in an international team.
* Experience with ROS and ROS2 with deployments on real hardware.
* Expertise in real-time, object-oriented software architecture in Python and C++.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write reports and engage effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
* Proven expertise in some of the following areas: lidar point cloud processing, depth-cameras image segmentation, path planning, localization, SLAM, sensor data fusion, numerical controllers, UDP and serial data communication, machine learning.
* Know how to use version control systems like Git or Gitlab, and modern IDEs such as VS Code.


Nice to Have :


* French proficiency to assist communication with other teams in the company.
* Knowledge of unit tests frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
* Fundamentals in mathematics, electronics, mechanics... Basically, intuition of how a sensor will work or not work, how a robot will break or not break.
* Experience with ROS simulations such as Gazebo or Isaac Sim.
* Hands-on experience with Nvidia products, GPU, drivers, Jetson...
* Familiarity with classical AI techniques and computer vision libraries.
* Familiarity with UI/UX design and modern web development tools (React, Next.js...).
