For a shipping customer in Antwerp, I am searching for a freelance Key Account Manager to join their Reefer Cargo team, specialising in commodity segments.
This is a hybrid role combining key account management (70%) with business development (20%) and reporting/administration (10%). The ideal candidate will be client-focused, analytically strong, and skilled in negotiating and coordinating with internal trade and pricing teams.
Responsibilities
* Proactively manage and develop relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
* Send, follow up on, and manage cargo rate offers in line with client requirements and trade strategy.
* Negotiate and confirm rates in coordination with internal trade and pricing teams.
* Ensure all client interactions, offers, and outcomes are accurately registered and updated in Salesforce.
* Monitor performance and bookings of key accounts to ensure service reliability and identify opportunities for growth.
* Act as the voice of the customer internally, advocating for client needs while balancing company priorities.
* Identify and canvass new business opportunities in strategic commodity segments and geographical areas.
* Qualify and onboard new customers in alignment with the overall cargo growth strategy.
* Support and collaborate with marketing or product teams to target and promote reefer services.
* Maintain accurate and timely records in Salesforce and other CRM tools.
* Prepare periodic sales reports, forecasts, and business reviews for internal stakeholders.
Profile
* At least 2 years working in the shipping/maritime industry
* Solid experience in a (Key) account management function
* Demonstrated experience with refrigerated cargo or commodity logistics is highly preferred.
* Strong commercial acumen and client management skills
* Proficient in CRM tools, particularly Salesforce
* Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and market trends
* Self-motivated with a proactive, hands-on approach
