Enterprise Architect – Governance & Architecture Strategy | Energy Industry
An organization in the energy sector is looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect to support the evolution and governance of its enterprise architecture landscape. The role focuses on strengthening architectural coherence across the organization and introducing structured governance frameworks that ensure alignment between business strategy and IT delivery.
The current environment includes multiple architectural domains and delivery teams. The objective of this role is to introduce stronger architectural governance, improve standardization, and ensure that architectural decisions are consistent and traceable across the organization.
Role Overview
The Enterprise Architect will play a central role in defining and maintaining the organization's enterprise architecture framework. This includes establishing governance structures, architectural principles, and decision-making processes that guide IT initiatives across business and technology domains.
The role requires someone who can combine strategic thinking with pragmatic implementation, helping the organization mature its architecture practice while ensuring that architecture guidelines are applied effectively across projects and programs.
You will work closely with business leaders, technology teams, and other architects to ensure that architectural standards, principles, and reference architectures are consistently applied and aligned with the organization's long-term technology strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and continuously improve the enterprise architecture governance framework, including principles, standards, policies, and reference architectures
* Establish and maintain clear architecture governance processes and decision workflows, ensuring traceability and transparency in architectural decisions
* Contribute to the development of the enterprise architecture vision and long-term IT roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic initiatives
* Support the architecture review process by evaluating initiatives and providing recommendations to ensure compliance with architecture standards
* Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to identify gaps in the current IT landscape and propose architectural improvements
* Perform cross-domain architecture analyses and trade-off evaluations to support informed technology decisions
* Provide guidance and coaching to other architects and technical teams across the organization
* Maintain and evolve the enterprise architecture repository, ensuring it remains the single source of truth for architectural models and decisions
* Ensure alignment between architecture governance and other IT processes such as project portfolio management and service management
* Support the development of architectural maturity within the organization by defining and prioritizing improvement initiatives
Profile
* Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect in complex organizations
* Strong background in establishing or improving enterprise architecture governance frameworks
* Experience defining architecture principles, standards, and reference architectures
* Ability to work with senior stakeholders and translate strategic objectives into architectural direction
* Experience guiding organizations through architecture maturity or transformation initiatives
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform architecture assessments and trade-off analyses
* Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies (such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, or similar)
