Job Description

Brussels, Belgium

Do you want to contribute to key EU policies driving Europe’s transition toward a sustainable and resilient future? Are you equipped with advanced data science skills and eager to generate rigorous, evidence-based insights that inform high-impact policymaking? Do you thrive on uncovering the story behind the data to support a more prosperous, competitive, and inclusive Europe? Are you looking to join a dynamic network of highly skilled data scientists working at the intersection of policy and analytics?

Your new role
As our new (Junior) Data Scientist, you will work with a dynamic and growing team on projects that focus on Europe's core policy objectives of competitiveness and sustainability. You will apply your skills across a wide range of sectors, including Energy, Transport & Infrastructure, Industry & Manufacturing, Water, and Buildings & Cities.

You will be part of Ramboll Management Consulting Belgium. Our multidisciplinary and multilingual department, headquartered in Brussels, collaborates extensively with EU institutions to support a green and just transition.

We focus on policy-driven initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability, inclusivity, and competitiveness within various sectors. We specialize in projects that combine high-level strategy with deep technical expertise, where your skills in data science, machine learning, and statistical analysis will be paramount. You will work continuously with our colleagues across Ramboll, with access to a global pool of technical expertise throughout Europe and worldwide.

Your key responsibilities will be:

* Lead and contribute to the full data science lifecycle, from analytical design and data collection to model development and deployment.
* Source, process, and manage data using tools such as APIs, web scraping, NLP techniques, and SQL databases.
* Develop predictive and statistical models (e.g., classification and regression using machine learning methods).
* Apply econometric, causal inference, and quasi-experimental methods to assess policy impacts and support evidence-based decision-making.
* Translate analytical results into clear insights, visualisations, and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for technical and policy audiences.
* Contribute to consulting project delivery, including methodological design, report writing, and presentation of findings to clients and stakeholders.

About you
From the moment you start at Ramboll, we’ll seek to support your professional and personal development in any way we can. Still, we have identified some qualifications and capabilities that will enable you to do well in this role. These include:

* Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a quantitative or policy-related field, with proficiency in advanced data science techniques.
* Minimum one year in data science, ideally in a consulting environment.
* High proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and statistical packages like STATA; experience with machine learning, statistical analysis, NLP, web scraping, and causal inference methods; familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or geospatial analysis (GIS).
* Ability and interest in exploring the use of AI in a consulting environment.
* Willingness to work independently and take initiative, and ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines effectively,
* A keen interest in working for public sector clients and collaborating with economic actors to
advance policy objectives and deliver impact.
* Excellent command of English, both written and oral; fluency in French or Dutch would be a plus.
* The right to work and live in the EU.

What we can offer you

* Commitment to your development
* Leaders guided by our Leadership Principles
* A culture that welcomes you as the unique person you are
* Inspiration from colleagues, clients, and projects
* The long-term thinking of a foundation-owned company
* A flexible work environment with the possibility to telework
* An attractive, fun and intellectually stimulating workplace
* 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays
* A competitive salary package, including additional benefits
