About the Role
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Architect (Freelance) to lead a high-impact digital transformation for our client in Brussels. This is a freelance, full-time opportunity for two months (with potential for renewal), designed for a hands-on technical leader ready to architect, implement, and evolve complex DevOps and MLOps platforms. You'll be at the heart of innovation, driving the next generation of cloud, AI, and data solutions in a hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Define and drive the target DevOps vision, aligning with IT strategy and business needs
* Design and own reference architectures for cloud, on-premise, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments
* Lead the evolution and maintenance of DevOps toolchains, CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines
* Automate deployments, testing, security checks, and recurring operations
* Work hands-on with pipelines, scripts, manifests, and configurations
* Architect and deploy DevOps and MLOps pipelines for AI environments, covering the full AI model lifecycle
* Adapt DevOps practices to AI-specific requirements: data, models, performance, reproducibility
* Support AI Labs, PoCs, R&D, and co-creation initiatives
* Lead end-to-end delivery of complex DevOps projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and partners
* Integrate security by design (DevSecOps), implementing controls, scans, policies, and audits
* Ensure platform resilience, performance, and availability; participate in incident management and post-mortems
* Act as a technical reference, coaching engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and collaborative architecture
* Share best practices via documentation, workshops, and technical leadership
Technical Skills
* Advanced Linux administration (Red Hat is a plus)
* Containerization & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
* CI/CD & GitOps: GitLab CI or equivalent
* Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible, Helm
* Advanced Python scripting and automation
* Public cloud: Azure, AWS, GCP – hybrid architectures
* MLOps: MLflow, Kubeflow, DVC or equivalents
* Observability: ELK, Prometheus, Grafana
* Networking: TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls
* DevSecOps, OS and container hardening
* Identity, secrets, and certificate management
* Kubernetes/OpenShift and CI/CD pipeline security
* Compliance, auditability, and risk management

Education & Experience
* Master's degree (or equivalent) in IT, engineering, data, or AI
* 10+ years of DevOps experience, including:
* At least 7 years as a solution architect or equivalent
* At least 3 years as an integration architect with successful implementation of an integration platform
* Proven experience in AS-IS / TO-BE architecture definition and delivery in a public-sector digital transformation context
* Strong experience in cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments
* Solid background in AI / MLOps / Machine Learning
* TOGAF certification
Language Proficiency
* English: Professional working proficiency (required)
* French or Dutch: Required
* Both French & Dutch: Strong asset
Other Requirements
* Freelance position – full-time, 2 months (renewable)
* Hybrid work: On-site presence in Brussels at least 2 days per week; telework allowed within Belgium
* Multidisciplinary team environment (internal and external collaborators)
