Overview
Sirris is looking for a Senior Data Scientist for the Data & AI for Industry team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of topics as part of collaborative and multidisciplinary R&D projects to help companies realize AI and data-driven innovations.
Your role
* You take the lead in industrially driven application-oriented research projects in the field of data innovation and AI, supervising small project teams and coaching colleagues.
* You collaborate with our industrial and research partners to develop data-driven solutions to real-world problems in many diverse application domains such as renewable energy, digital industry, mobility, safety and security, etc. This includes supporting companies in defining, setting up and evaluating their research and innovation roadmap, while being closely involved in the subsequent project implementation.
* You build an (inter)national knowledge network within the industry, the research community and with Sirris\' partners, and manage (inter)national multi-party R&D projects in the field of data innovation and AI.
* You shape, discuss and write new project proposals with companies and research partners.
* You build knowledge about the latest technological developments in research and industry and contribute to the organization of dissemination events towards companies to spread those insights to the industry.
* As an AI ambassador, you facilitate cross-domain internal collaboration with our experts from other technology disciplines with the goal of adopting AI expertise into those teams.

Who are you?
* You have a PhD or Master\'s degree in Computer Science or in a related technical discipline.
* You have at least 5 years experience in an R&D environment with hands-on knowledge of state-of-the-art ML/AI technologies.
* You have a track record of contributing in the field of data innovation and AI, either in academia with solid post doc experience, in industry or in an industrially related R&D environment.
* Knowledge of the following is highly recommended: statistical and machine learning tools in Python such as scikit-learn, Pandas, Tensorflow or PyTorch, etc., well-known development technologies such as git, Docker, Jupyter, etc.
* You are familiar with setting up R&D proposals.
* You have good coaching skills to lead small project teams and you enjoy sharing your AI expertise with other colleagues.
* To fit into our collaborative and international environment, you are creative, dynamic and can work independently yet transparently with colleagues. In addition, you are also a strong team player, both with colleagues and external partners. Individual and team problem solving is crucial in this position.
* You see the value of a multidisciplinary approach, working across technologies and industries.
* You enjoy collaborating with industry and transforming research results into services.
* You enjoy presenting (preliminary) results in a tangible way and you demonstrate pedagogical skills by sharing knowledge with industry through workshops, seminars, master classes and social media.
* You have good communication skills and are fluent in English, allowing you to formulate arguments and reasoning clearly. Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus.
* And above all: you learn quickly, stay focused on your further development and on improving and innovating in a constantly changing and fast-growing environment.
