About the Product
Vuori is re-defining what athletic apparel looks like: built to move and sweat in but designed with a casual aesthetic to transition into everyday life.
Our high energy, fast paced office environment is reflected in the clothes we make. We aim to inspire others to take on all aspects of their lives with clarity, enthusiasm, and purpose…. while having a lot of fun along the way. We are proud to be an outlet for opportunity of personal growth and success.
About the Role
Vuori is looking for a Principal Engineer to lead the technical foundation behind our Omni Analytics pod and our Customer Data Platform.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role with broad scope — you will be the technical owner across ecommerce data, retail data, marketing and media data, identity resolution, and the CDP itself.
The data products this pod ships are how Vuori understands its customers, optimizes media spend, runs personalization, and powers retail and ecom decision making.
You will work alongside the Sr. Product Manager, Omni, and across a team that includes ecom analytics, CDP, retail, and marketing data engineering.
You will set the architecture, raise the bar on engineering standards, mentor the team, and personally build the hardest parts.
You will also partner with the Data Platform team on shared infrastructure and with Data Science & AI on activation of model outputs.
We need someone with deep experience building customer data infrastructure at scale — identity resolution, customer 360, event pipelines, audience activation, and the data foundations behind personalization and lifecycle marketing.
You should be fluent in the modern data stack, comfortable with cloud infrastructure, and equally happy in a design review, a code review, or a stakeholder conversation about what to build next.
Above all, we want a builder who lifts the team. You write code others want to learn from. You give feedback that makes engineers better. You are direct about what is broken and generous about how to fix it. You take ownership of outcomes, not just outputs, and you are the person other engineers go to when they are stuck.
What You Will Do
* Own the technical architecture and engineering quality of the Omni Analytics pod and the Customer Data Platform
* Lead the relaunch and ongoing buildout of the Vuori CDP, including identity resolution (IDR), customer 360, audience definitions, and activation to downstream channels (Shopify, ESP, ad platforms, in-store systems)
* Build and maintain the data foundations for e-commerce analytics, retail analytics, marketing and media analytics, and customer journey analysis
* Set engineering standards across the pod — code quality, testing, observability, data quality, deployment, on-call — and mentor the team to meet them
* Be the technical voice in the room on architectural decisions: warehouse modeling, pipeline design, event schema, identity graph design, real-time vs batch, build vs buy
* Partner with the Data Platform team on shared Snowflake infrastructure, ingestion patterns, orchestration, and data quality tooling
* Partner with Data Science & AI on activation of models — recommendations, LTV, propensity, churn — into the CDP and downstream channels
* Personally own the hardest engineering problems in the pod, including identity resolution logic, large-scale event processing, and any net-new platform builds
* Manage and mentor engineers and consultants (US and offshore) in the pod, with technical leadership of the whole technical team within Omni
* Use AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, and others) in your own workflow and set the standard for how the rest of the pod uses them
* Communicate effectively on tradeoffs, risks, and priorities with both engineering peers and business stakeholders
What You Bring
* 10+ years of data or software engineering experience, with at least 5 years building customer data infrastructure at scale — CDPs, identity resolution, event pipelines, or customer 360 platforms
* Deep, hands-on expertise in the modern data stack: Snowflake (or Databricks/BigQuery), dbt or SQLMesh, an orchestration platform (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect), and modern streaming or event tooling
* Strong customer data domain expertise — identity resolution patterns, deterministic vs probabilistic matching, consent and privacy considerations, audience definition, and activation patterns to downstream channels
* Experience with CDP platform (Hightouch) and a strong opinion on how to enable experimentation and iterative build on the solution
* Hands-on experience with e-commerce data (ideally Shopify), digital marketing and media data (GA4, ad platforms, attribution), and retail / POS data
* Strong software engineering fundamentals — testing, version control, code review, observability, on-call — applied to data systems
* Experience working with Data Science & AI teams to operationalize model outputs into production systems
* Track record of technical leadership: setting standards, raising the bar, mentoring engineers, and influencing across a broader engineering org without relying on org chart authority
* DTC, apparel, or branded consumer goods experience is strongly preferred
* Excellent written and verbal communication. You can explain a complex architectural decision to a VP and to a junior engineer with equal clarity.
* Strong proficiency with AI productivity tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor) in your own workflow
* Advanced English proficiency (B2–C1 or higher).
We offer
* We welcome new ideas and allow you to make an immediate impact on the team.
* Flexible Paid time off (PTO for any reason, including sick days (no specified limits) and flexible work schedule.
* Health/Sport Budget.
* Fully remote.
