Development Engineer — Exploratory Device Processing / Cleanroom / Microfabrication
We are partnered with a world-renowned research and innovation hub in semiconductor and nanotechnology. The team is looking to hire a Development Engineer to translate device and material concepts into experimental process flows, working hands-on in a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment.
This is an initial 12-month contract opportunity based fully onsite in Leuven, Belgium.
Key responsibilities for this Development Engineer position:
* Translate device and material concepts into experimental process flows in collaboration with R&D engineers and researchers.
* Develop and optimise cleanroom process steps including thin film deposition, patterning, etching, bonding, and layer characterisation.
* Integrate process steps into full device fabrication flows, monitoring critical parameters for yield and performance.
* Execute hands-on processing runs, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and thorough documentation.
* Report process progress, results, and issues clearly and in a structured manner to project leaders and researchers.
Key requirements:
* Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
* 3–6 years of experience in a similar role, with cleanroom experience mandatory.
* Hands-on experience in one or more of: thin film deposition, photolithography, etching, bonding, or microfabrication.
* Solid understanding of microfabrication principles and device fabrication flows.
