As part of major marine and inland infrastructure projects, we are looking for a Lead Design Engineer to take ownership of technical design and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
This role sits in a high-demand engineering environment with strong exposure to clients and clear expectations on quality, delivery, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design of a full project or a major part of a marine infrastructure project
* Act as the technical lead and supervise engineers and CAD designers
* Coordinate multiple disciplines (structures, geotechnical, hydraulic, etc.) within an integrated design approach
* Act as the technical interface with clients and external stakeholders
* Perform and validate design calculations in line with European standards (Eurocodes and local regulations)
* Deliver and oversee engineering studies, including:
o conceptual design
o basic design
o tender documentation
o detailed design
* Work on infrastructure such as:
o ports
o locks
o quay walls
o jetties
o breakwaters and dikes
o marine foundations
* Ensure quality, timelines, and overall performance of project deliverables
* Support tendering activities from a technical standpoint
* Stay up to date with industry developments and propose optimized and innovative design solutions
Education
* Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
* Preferred specialization: construction, offshore, dredging, or infrastructure
Experience
* Strong experience in structural and/or geotechnical calculations
* Experience in infrastructure design (marine experience is a plus, not mandatory)
* Previous experience as a technical lead or senior engineer
* Experience contributing to tenders is a plus
Technical Skills
* Structural and/or geotechnical design and calculations
* Strong knowledge of Eurocodes (mandatory)
* Familiar with tools such as SCIA, Plaxis, Ansys, D-Sheet or similar
Languages & Requirements
* Dutch is mandatory (ability to write calculation notes independently)
* Based in Flanders or willing to relocate
* Able to work on-site 2 days per week (Ghent, Antwerp, or Ostend)
