You understand the unique challenges of a medtech scale-up, knowing when to be pragmatic and scrappy versus when to build robust, scalable systems for the future. Reporting to the CEO as a key member of the management team, you will own the entire engineering organization. Your mission is to be the driving force that unites our engineering and AI teams, executes our technical roadmap, and delivers high-quality, compliant software with excellence and accountability. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Technical Leadership Own and manage the technical roadmap, balancing the development of new product features with essential technical improvements and platform stability. Take full responsibility, both strategically and operationally, for the entire engineering organization (development and AI). Oversee technical infrastructure decisions and architecture governance, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable. Team Management & Culture Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 7 engineers and 2 AI specialists, handling performance reviews, career development, and hiring. Act as a hands-on, operational leader, working closely with the team to solve problems and remove roadblocks. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture and improve how data science and technical teams work together to achieve unified goals. Process & Delivery Excellence Manage and improve development processes, including tools like JIRA, Matrix, and CI/CD pipelines to increase efficiency and quality. Drive the agile/scrum process, lead sprint planning, own delivery accountability, and ensure commitments are met. Be the driving force pushing projects to completion, managing larger technical initiatives and epics spanning multiple sprints or teams. Ensure all development activities comply with medical device regulations (ISO 13485, FDA, CE). Stakeholder & Project Management Partner with Product Management, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to align the roadmap and ensure feasibility. Work directly with customers and partners on technically involved projects, acting as project manager to ensure success. Serve as the primary technical voice in the management team, reporting progress, challenges, and opportunities directly to the CEO. Who we are looking for Experience & Skills 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, with a hands-on software development background. Proven experience managing the full lifecycle of IT projects and technical initiatives. Expertise in agile/scrum methodologies and hands-on sprint management. Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and DevOps practices. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience in customer-facing technical roles. Preferred: Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., medtech, pharma) and familiarity with ISO 13485. Preferred: Familiarity with AI/ML development processes.
