In order to support the growth of our Finance Department, we are currently looking for a Business Controller. If you are passionate about Africa and Finance, this position is for you About the Role As a Business Controller, you will ensure financial transparency, accuracy, and compliance for several African subsidiaries. You will play a key role in analyzing performance, improving financial processes, and supporting strategic decision-making. The African region includes 20 legal subsidiaries, each operating under specific currencies, legislations, and accounting principles – a challenging and rewarding multi-country scope Your Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis : Participate actively in preparing accurate and timely monthly and yearly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.) Identify financial risks and develop recommendations for local teams to mitigate them. Lead and review budgeting and forecasting processes. Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions. Ensure full compliance with local regulations, accounting standards, and corporate policies. Strategic Planning, Internal Controls & Risk Management : Partner with management to develop long-term financial strategies and cost optimization initiatives. Monitor cash flow, oversee receivables, and mitigate liquidity risks. Perform branches and subsidiaries' visits to strengthen internal controls and relationships with local stakeholders. Define and monitor KPIs to track financial and operational performance. Develop and deliver insightful performance dashboards and reports to management, enabling data-driven decision-making at both strategic and operational levels. Country Support / Control : Lead and coordinate the full local audit process, ensuring smooth collaboration between local finance teams, external auditors, and HQ, while continuously improving audit preparation and follow-up. Serve as a reliable financial partner to country teams by offering guidance, sharing best practices, and supporting accurate and compliant financial reporting. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process optimization, promoting standardization, and empowering teams to challenge and enhance existing practices. Your Profile Must-have : Master's degree in Finance / Accounting At least 4 years of experience in audit Proven experience as a Financial/Business Controller Strong command of French and English (both written and spoken) Solid expertise in MS Dynamics 365, Excel and Power BI Analytical mindset, precision, curiosity, and strong interpersonal communication Autonomous yet highly collaborative, demonstrating strong team spirit Persistent, detail-oriented, and professional in all interactions Willingness to travel in Africa (approx. 4 travel per year) Nice-to-have : Understanding of financial consolidation principles Experience in automotive industry (dealership), trading/resale, import/export, or industrial sectors Demonstrate a strong affinity with Africa, and an open-minded approach to diverse cultural contexts Familiarity with SYSCOHADA (the main accounting framework used across African countries) Why Join SMT Africa?
