Position open to recent graduates with EU citizenship or an existing right to work in Belgium (no visa sponsorship available)


Are you a recent graduate eager to start your career in public affairs within a European policy environment? We are offering a paid traineeship based in Brussels, providing hands-on experience in a dynamic, international, and multidisciplinary organisation.


About Fertilizers Europe

Fertilizers Europe represents the interests of the European fertilizer industry and acts as the sector’s voice at EU level. We are a key source of information on fertilizers and related policies, covering topics such as climate policy, energy policy, agriculture, environment, technology, and safety. We also support our members through data, statistics, and sectoral analysis.


• Location: Brussels, Belgium Working time: Full-time

• Duration: 6 months to 1 year Starting date: 27 April 2026


Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in Belgium under a Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle (CIP) and must hold EU citizenship or already possess a valid right to work in Belgium at the time of application


What You’ll Gain

• Hands-on experience in a European and international policy setting

• Direct exposure to EU public affairs, including climate, energy and sustainability policies.

• The chance to work alongside a truly multidisciplinary team, including chemists, engineers, agronomists, economists, statisticians, and policy specialists


What You’ll Do

• Support the monitoring and analysis of EU policy and regulatory developments relevant to the sector

• Assist in the preparation of policy briefings, position papers, and internal updates for members

• Contribute to the implementation of advocacy and stakeholder engagement activities

• Assist in drafting communication materials (e.g. reports, website content)

• Participate in internal meetings, working groups, and external events

• Provide general administrative and project support to the Public Affairs team


What You Bring

• A master’s degree in European studies, International Relations, Political Science or related fields

• An interest in (and basic understanding of) energy-intensive industries

• Familiarity with EU institutions and policy-making processes

• Solid Microsoft Office skills

• Very good written and spoken English; additional European languages are an asset

• Prior experience in EU institutions or trade associations is a plus

• Comfortable working independently while being a reliable team player

• Proactive, organised, and able to manage several tasks and deadlines at the same time
