GeoSpatial Senior Developer (Java) – Belgium (Hybrid working model)

Working Hours: Day shift | No travel required
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced GeoSpatial Senior Developer with strong expertise in Java-based technologies to join our team in Belgium. The role focuses on designing and delivering scalable geospatial applications that leverage location-based data to support business decision-making. You will work in a hybrid setup, collaborating with cross-functional teams in an international environment.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain geospatial applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular
* Build scalable and high-performance backend services aligned with business requirements
* Work with SQL databases, including complex queries and geospatial data handling
* Collaborate with architects, analysts, and stakeholders across distributed teams
* Integrate third-party APIs and geospatial services
* Ensure application performance, security, quality, and reliability
* Conduct testing, debugging, and performance optimisation
* Participate in code reviews and enforce development best practices
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members
* Document technical designs, architecture, and development standards
* Apply security and data protection principles, including GDPR considerations
* Continuously improve development processes and stay updated on geospatial technologies
Required Qualifications
* Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Angular
* Solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases
* Experience working in hybrid and distributed teams
* Familiarity with enterprise application development in an EU context
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Good communication skills in English (French or Dutch is a plus)
* Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt
Nice to Have
* Experience with GIS platforms or geospatial frameworks
* Exposure to cloud environments
* Knowledge of performance tuning for data-intensive applications
* Experience working on projects involving EU data compliance
