Internship Position
We are looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join our Control and Data Centre (CDC) Team. The Intern will contribute to the development of the open source software Yamcs, a mission control system used in various space missions, including moon landings and lunar rover missions. The Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with the Team to contribute to state-of-the-art, open source software solutions.
The successful Intern will mainly report to the Control and Data Centre (CDC) Team Lead.
* Location: Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area)
* Duration: 3 months at a minimum
* Start date: As of June 2024
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Research enhancements of User Interface for mission control, using state-of-the-art solution
* Provide an integration of Yamcs framework with the open source web user interface Grafana 9
* Upgrade the Yamcs Quick start simulator to enable the demonstration of the relevant Grafana 9 features
* Document the new features and provide getting-started instructions for new users
* Deploy the integrated software on the ICE Cubes Mission Control Centre (ICMCC)
* Collect feedback from flight operators of the ICMCC on the integration of Yamcs and Grafana.
Skills and Experience
* Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Software Engineering, Computer Science or similar
* Experience with:
o Web front-end technologies and popular front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Angular)
o Back-end software development using languages (e.g. Python, Java)
* Knowledge of:
o Web services and APIs, particularly RESTful APIs and web-sockets
o Version control systems such as Git
* Strength in self-discipline and work ethic
* Passionate in a problem-solving approach
* Good written and spoken English.
