.NET Platform Modernization Engineer
Location: Leuven, Belgium (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Start Date: 1st September
Contract: Initial 4-month freelance assignment + extensions
We are partnering with a leading semiconductor organisation to secure a highly skilled .NET Platform Modernization Engineer for a long-term freelance opportunity.
Responsibilities :
- Design and execute a phased modernization strategy toward modern .NET (Core / .NET 5+)
- Refactor legacy applications into efficient, SDK-style project structures
- Transition dependency management to robust, scalable NuGet-based solutions
- Identify and resolve compatibility issues and deprecated APIs
- Build automated CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, reliable deployments
- Enhance software quality, scalability, and maintainability
- Implement modern deployment solutions (MSIX, WiX)
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to balance performance, risk, and innovation
Experience :
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar
- Strong experience with .NET Framework (3.x–4.x) and modern .NET platforms
- Proven track record modernizing complex, enterprise-scale codebases
- Expertise in dependency management and architecture refactoring
- Strong Git and repository management experience
- Familiarity with scripting/automation (PowerShell or similar)
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Ability to navigate and simplify highly complex systems
