Engineering Project Leader — Process / Piping / Mixing - Pharma
Hainaut, Belgium
About Nalys
Nalys is a Belgian recruitment and consultancy firm specialised in the pharmaceutical, biotech and life sciences industries. With deep expertise across quality, manufacturing, engineering and clinical development, we support both large international groups and innovative scale-ups in building the teams that drive their projects forward.
When we place a professional, we stay by their side — before, during and after the mission.
The Mission
We are looking for an Engineering Project Leader to join a strategic pharmaceutical manufacturing project, bringing recognised expertise in process engineering — specifically in the design, integration and commissioning of sterile liquid preparation, mixing and distribution systems. This is a high-autonomy, end-to-end role for an expert who can lead from URS definition through to industrial start-up, across multiple concurrent projects.
Your Responsibilities
Process engineering & technical expertise :
* Provide recognised expertise in sterile liquid processes — mixing, homogenisation, parenteral nutrition, and injectable solutions
* Design and optimise process architectures: mixing equipment sizing, critical parameter control (mixing time, homogeneity, shear), and process philosophy definition
* Validate process designs against GMP and regulatory quality requirements
Piping & instrumentation
* Define and design process piping networks: pharmaceutical stainless steel, orbital welding, and hygienic design standards
* Manage fluid distribution systems: WFI, CIP, nitrogen, compressed air, and waste streams
* Review and validate P&IDs and equipment layouts in line with GMP and hygienic engineering best practices
Project Management
* Lead projects with full autonomy: from URS and conceptual design through tendering, supplier selection and technical follow-up
* Make structuring technical decisions and arbitrate between process solutions
* Manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously
Qualification & commissioning
* Lead qualification activities: FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ
* Ensure process robustness through critical parameter mastery
* Provide active support during industrial start-up
Documentation & compliance
* Author and manage URS, FDS, risk analyses and change controls
* Ensure full compliance with cGMP, data integrity and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements
* Interface effectively with EHS, Production, Quality, Maintenance and Planning teams.
Your Profile
* You hold a Master's degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electromechanics or equivalent with a strong process component
* You have minimum 8 years experience in an industrial engineering environment
* A Recognised experience in sterile liquid processes, mixing and homogenisation systems
* You have a solid background in pharmaceutical piping design: hygienic design, CIP systems, P&ID review
* You are able to deliver projects in GMP-regulated environments
* You are autonomous, technically rigorous, with strong leadership and decision-making capabilities
* And comfortable to challenge partners and suppliers with confidence
* You are fluent in both French and English.
What We Offer
* A human‐scaled consulting company focused on expertise, partnership, and career development
* Long‐term assignments with leading pharmaceutical players
* Continuous learning through technical coaching, training, and knowledge sharing
* A supportive culture that values autonomy, trust, and impact
* An attractive salary package with additional benefits.
