Position Overview
The client is seeking an experienced Senior TypeScript Developer, specialising in back-end development, to join their engineering team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable APIs and cloud-based services that form the backbone of critical business applications.
This role suits a technically adept engineer who enjoys working in an autonomous, agile environment, is comfortable taking ownership of end-to-end solutions, and is committed to writing secure, maintainable, and performant code.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain APIs and back-end services using TypeScript and Node.js.
* Build and manage Workers and microservices to ensure scalability and reliability.
* Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and business analysts to deliver high-quality software solutions.
* Conduct code reviews, support team members, and promote engineering best practices.
* Implement and maintain automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
* Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and work with modern DevOps tools (Azure, Docker).
* Identify and resolve technical issues across environments.
* Ensure adherence to security, data protection, and privacy standards.
* Participate in regular production deployments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills and Experience
* Senior-level experience in TypeScript and Node.js (5+ years).
* Proven experience designing and developing APIs and Workers in Node.js.
* Familiarity with React and Next.js for integration and front-end collaboration.
* Strong understanding of distributed systems, resilience, and cloud architecture.
* Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure tools (Azure, Docker, CI/CD).
* Proficiency in automated testing frameworks and methodologies.
* Solid understanding of security best practices in software development.
* Experience working in autonomous, agile environments.
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
