IT SUPPORT ENGINEER - BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONWe are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Support Engineer with a strong focus on Linux-based systems to join a growing IT team. In this role, you will serve as a key technical resource responsible for maintaining and supporting our Linux infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability across all systems.You will play a critical part in both day-to-day operations and long-term improvement initiatives. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and resolving issues at both the system and user level, managing Linux servers, implementing updates, and participating in automation and infrastructure projects.You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, security, development, and network engineering, to ensure our IT environment runs smoothly and securely.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and is passionate about open-source technologies. If you are eager to expand your skills and contribute to a collaborative and forward-thinking tech culture, we want to hear from you.Key Responsibilities:Provide Level 1–3 support for Linux-based systems (primarily Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, etc.)Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues in physical and virtual environmentsManage user access, permissions, and authentication (e.g., LDAP, SSH, Sudo policies)Monitor system performance and health; perform regular updates, patches, and backupsAssist in deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers and critical applicationsDocument processes, procedures, and configurations in knowledge bases and runbooksSupport automation tasks using Bash, Python, or other scripting languagesMaintain and support IT infrastructure tools such as monitoring, logging, and backup solutionsCollaborate with DevOps and Security teams to improve system reliability and complianceSupport other operating systems (e.g., Windows or MacOS) as needed in a mixed environmentRequired Qualifications:Proven experience (3+ years) in a technical support or system administration role with a focus on Linux systemsStrong understanding of Linux OS internals, package management, and system troubleshootingExperience with command-line tools and shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.)Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls)Knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM, AWS, Azure)Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is a plusExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentThe Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
