We are hiring an in-house Senior Accountant to take end-to-end ownership of the accounting for a small portfolio of Belgian entities active in B2B automotive trading (incl. automotive and bus trading). The environment is fast-moving with cross-border flows and complex VAT. The role requires strong autonomy, solid technical background, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Responsibilities
* Own end-to-end accounting for a portfolio of Belgian entities (BE GAAP)
* Process and review AP/overheads in the accounting system (Basecone flow for overheads)
* Post/control AR invoices and credit notes; ensure consistency between operational data and accounting
* Process CODA bank statements and perform bank reconciliations
* Lead month-end close (J+20): accruals/deferrals, provisions when relevant, balance sheet substantiation
* Prepare and file Belgian VAT returns (incl. intra-EU, triangulation, exports)
* Ensure robust inventory accounting and reconciliations (trading context)
* Build and maintain a “closing pack”: checklists, reconciliations, supporting schedules; be main contact for auditors for the entities in scope
Requirements
* Proven experience as Senior Accountant in Belgium with end-to-end ownership (BE GAAP)
* Very strong Belgian VAT knowledge incl. cross-border B2B flows (intra-EU / triangulation / export)
* Solid experience with inventory accounting / stock reconciliations in a trading environment
* Able to work autonomously: proactive, structured, follows up without being chased
* Comfortable preparing year-end packages and interacting with auditors
* Dutch + French operational (mandatory); English is a strong asset
* Tools experience is a plus: Adsolut, Isabel/CODA, Basecone
* Based in Belgium; able to work from Aarschot (hybrid max 2 days/week remote)
