Ortelius is looking for a macroeconomist to strengthen its consulting teamWe seek a candidate interested in various fields within macroeconomics, eager to upskill where needed, and with a strong affinity for communicating about macroeconomic trends. You will be part of the Ortelius team, a spin-off of the Econopolis group that focuses on economic consulting. The Ortelius team is a young and dynamic group that has already worked on high-profile projects such as the socio-economic impact study of the Einstein Telescope for Flanders, a cost-benefit analysis of Belgium’s coastal protection strategy, and the development of a European strategic vision on critical raw materials for electric vehicle batteries. Your role will be more focused on the macroeconomic aspects of consulting assignments.Your missionAdvise our consulting clients on macroeconomic and financial questions. You will collaborate on consulting assignments related to macroeconomics, covering areas such as labor market, public finance, real estate, etc.Communicate about macroeconomic trends, both through our own blog and through presentations. Take a leading role in the development of our economic software tool (to map business ecosystems). This includes identifying necessary developments, communicating with our software team, and commercialising the tool.Monitor the latest macroeconomic trends.To be in contact with internal and external experts. Search for new projects for the further development of our consulting branch. You will write tenders for new projects. Who you areYou have a strong interest in various areas of macroeconomics, including labor market, real estate, public finance, financial markets, etc.You have an affinity for software tools and are eager to take ownership of the (functional) development of our proprietary economic tool.You have a Master’s degree in Economics, Business Engineering, Applied Economics or an equivalent academic degree.You have a strong affinity for communication, both written and verbal. You are able to express yourself in a diplomatic and unbiased manner.Quantitative modelling skills are a plus (R, Python, etc.)At least 2-5 years of experience in an economic functionYou have the ability to work independently.What we offerAn attractive and open working environment in which people are supported to be self-starting and given freedom to develop their skills.
