NewSpace Technical is partnering with a pioneering space technology company to recruit an experienced Project Manager.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex engineering and technology development programmes within a highly innovative and fast-paced environment.
This role is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, from customer engagement and project planning through development, integration, testing, and final delivery. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with technical and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will act as the central coordination point between engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers, driving execution while proactively managing risks, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Delivery
* Lead complex engineering projects from contract award through delivery and acceptance.
* Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts.
* Define project milestones, deliverables, and success criteria.
* Monitor project performance and ensure delivery against agreed objectives.
Engineering & Technical Coordination
* Work closely with systems, software, electronics, mechanical, optical, manufacturing, and test teams to coordinate project activities.
* Translate customer and technical requirements into actionable project plans.
* Ensure alignment between engineering development activities and project milestones.
* Support integration, verification, validation, and delivery activities.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
* Serve as the primary project interface for customers and key stakeholders.
* Lead project reviews, progress meetings, and status reporting activities.
* Manage customer expectations and communicate project risks, issues, and mitigation plans.
* Coordinate activities with suppliers, subcontractors, and external partners.
Risk, Change & Governance
* Identify, assess, and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
* Implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
* Manage project scope, change requests, budgets, and schedules.
* Ensure project governance, reporting, and documentation standards are maintained.
Resource & Team Leadership
* Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to achieve delivery objectives.
* Facilitate collaboration across engineering, production, procurement, and quality functions.
* Support workload planning and resource allocation.
* Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Process Improvement
* Drive improvements in project management methodologies, tools, and reporting processes.
* Support the implementation of best practices across programme delivery.
* Contribute to lessons-learned activities and organisational project maturity.
Required Experience
* Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5+ years' experience managing complex technical or engineering projects.
* Proven track record delivering hardware, software, or integrated technology products from concept through delivery.
* Strong experience managing schedules, budgets, resources, and project risks.
* Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Excellent stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills.
* Experience working within structured engineering or regulated environments.
Highly Desirable
* Experience within the space, aerospace, defence, advanced manufacturing, or high-technology sectors.
* Experience delivering complex hardware products, sensors, imaging systems, payloads, or other highly engineered products.
* Familiarity with product development lifecycles including design, integration, testing, and qualification.
* Experience using project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, ClickUp, or equivalent.
* PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
