At our site in Lummen, SABCA Limburg, we specialize in the manufacture of high-tech composite assemblies for aircraft.
On the one hand, we produce integrated layers for the wings and stabilizers using two automatic tape layers and very large autoclaves and, of course, the extensive know-how of our colleagues in collaboration with the engineering firm in Brussels.
SABCA Limburg is also responsible for the Flaptrack fairings of various aircraft.
On the other hand, the aerospace industry is also present at this site with the final system integration of Ariane and Vega assemblies.
Mission:
At SABCA Limburg, we are looking for an experienced
Manufacturing Engineer
to join our team. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will act as the internal expert for manufacturing processes throughout the entire plant. Your mission is to support operational departments in ensuring on-time delivery, improving processes, and maintaining high-quality standards while reducing operational costs.
Tasks
Industrialization
* Contribute to the industrialization of new products.
* Identify and introduce industrial process improvements on running products.
* Analyse and interpret customer documentation and translate them into technical requirements.
* Select, implement and validate manufacturing processes based on technical requirements.
* Define industrial plans, documentation, tools, … for optimal manufacturability.
* Define and support actions needed for plant lay out changes related to new product introduction.
* Support the creation/build of tools, fixtures, … by developing/designing concepts and models (CAD).
* Launch and implement industrial changes based on updated requirements (eg. engineering changes, …) or process improvements.
Operational Support and Process Ownership
* Serve as the technical focal point for all manufacturing processes within your scope.
* Actively support operational department, where needed.
* Review, evaluate, and implement engineering changes.
Process Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
* Introduce, control, and maintain process monitoring systems to improve cost and quality.
* Apply structured problem-solving methods to eliminate quality issues and optimize process efficiency.
* Implement and maintain visual management tools on the shop floor.
* Drive the improvement and rollout of 5S practices within your area of responsibility.
* Develop and implement digital work instructions to standardize operations.
* Maintain and update internal procedures and work instructions.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
* Ensure compliance for all industrialization activities in line with the SABCA business process.
* Create and maintain Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, Control Plans, FAI… to ensure a qualitative industrialization.
* Analyse deviations, propose corrective actions, and ensure compliance with cost, quality, and deadlines.
* Support SQCDPE process.
* Ensure adherence to EN9100 quality standards and ISO 14001 environmental standards.
* Propose improvements for equipment testing and validation procedures.
* Analyse changes in customer requirements and their impact on manufacturing processes.
Strategic Planning & Investment
* Participate in investment projects and introduce technical innovations to optimize manufacturing.
* Support strategic roadmaps by proposing and justifying capital investments (machines, tooling, calibration, factory infrastructure).
* Support quotation process for new project tenders.
Profile:
Education:
* Master's degree in Industrial or Civil Engineering (specialization in Electro-Mechanics, Mechanics, Materials, Aviation/Space, or similar).
Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in production, engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
* Background in Aviation or Aerospace is a big plus.
* Experience with composite materials and composite manufacturing processes is a significant advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of Lean tools such as 5S, visual management, flow, and value stream mapping is a plus.
* Familiarity with APQP/PPAP processes is advantageous.
* Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and results.
* Proficient in Dutch and English.
* Experience with CAD software, preferably Catia and AutoCAD
